Kadai/Karahi Chicken

Its been lots of eating and shopping from past few days. I am visiting my lil sister in Atlanta, and I need not say how it is when sisters meet after almost 3 years.

Chatting all day, Shopping together with loads of fun in trail rooms, Playing cards late night, and not mention the water sports we did together especially the banana boat ride. I would recommend it to every one who has not tried it yet. It was awesome :)

While I enjoy my holiday, I have a special dish for you which is a family favorite.

What you Need :
For Marinating:
Chicken : 1 Kgs
Ginger Garlic paste : 1 Tbsp
Turmeric : 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala : 1 tsp
Yougurt : 2 Tbsp
Salt : to taste

Other Ingredients :
Onion : 1, sliced
Tomatoes : 1, cubed
Tomato Paste : 1 Tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 Tbsp
Capsicum : 1, cubed, I used red capsicum
Cinnamon : 1 stick
Bay leaf : 1
Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
Red chilli Powder : 1 tsp
Coriander powder : 2 tsp
Cumin powder : 1 tsp
Coriander leaves : a handfull, chopped
Lemon juice : from 1 lemon

Marinate chicken in the ingredients specified for about 1 hour.
Heat oil in a large deep pot/wok (Kadai).
Add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick and bay leaf.
When the seeds splutter, add sliced onions.
Fry onions till transperant and add ginger garlic paste.
Add in turmeric, cumin and coriander powder and garam masala powder.
Mix well.
Now add in tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix well and fry till tomatoes are done.
Add in marinated chicken. Mix well to coat with tomato mixture. Add salt.
Cover and cook for 10 -15 mins.
Add in capsicum. Mix and cook till done.
Lastly add in lemon juice and coriander leaves.
Serve hot with Steamed White Rice or Rotis.

    I follow some what similar recipe without lime juice & bell peppers. Mouthwatering bowl of kadai chicken.

      Adding bell peppers gives it additional flavor Usha, Try it.
